Anti-Slavery Day – Friday 18th October 2024

Anti-Slavery Day, 18th October, provides an opportunity to raise awareness of human trafficking and modern slavery, by highlighting the plight of approximately 122,000 individuals in the UK who are enduring modern slavery.  Modern slavery is a grave violation of human rights, affecting millions of people worldwide, including vulnerable adults in our communities. 183 cases were officially reported in Hampshire in 2023.

Modern slavery encompasses various forms of exploitation, such as forced labour, human trafficking, domestic servitude, and sexual exploitation. Victims are frequently coerced, deceived, or compelled into situations from which they cannot escape, enduring threats, violence, and abuse.

National Safeguarding Adults Week – 18-22 November 2024

The Local Safeguarding Adults Boards in Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton are proud to support National Safeguarding Adults Week, which begins on Monday 18th to Friday 22nd November 2024. We are working with our partner organisations and local communities to promote National Safeguarding Adults Week to raise awareness of a range of important issues relating to the abuse or neglect of adults with care and support needs. Every day of this working week, we will be shining a spotlight on a specific theme. In addition, there are several Lunch and Learn sessions being made available to all our partners across all four areas during the week and can be accessed from the link below, or found on the Board’s individual webpages, by clicking on the Board name in the link below:
